Over the past month or so I have bee posting on this site in regards to my families struggles and my quest to support my family and provide for them in any which way that I can. I have communicated and met with some very wonderful, caring people through this site and I want to once again, say Thank You to those people who have offered their support.
If you haven't read my posts........I am a 35 year old Carpenter and Husband-Father of 2 beautiful girls (ages 3 and 5) and my wife is due to give birth to a baby boy any day now. I have been out of work since October 16th due to a rare bone disease that I had to have my 2nd surgery this year for on Novermber 25th. Over that time we have depleted our savings, lost our only vehicle and fallen behind in all our bills. I will be cleared to go back to work sometime in late February/March. I am posting in search of a solution to my Financial and Transportation issues.

I am a skilled Carpenter an I excel in Roofing, Decks, Siding, Windows, Doors, etc. I would love to find someone who may have a job that they are looking to have done at their residence and maybe we could strike up some sort of contract where I could do the job as soon as my Doctors clear me to work and possibaly get an advance on the Labor cost to help me get through these winter months and hopefully get a vehicle for my Family. As it stands right now I am very behind in my bills and I don't have a dollar to my name. Being without a vehicle, as you can imagine, is extremely difficult and I would love to work with someone who may have a minivan or car big enough for 5, that they may be willing to do a payment plan on or some sort of work trade.

If there is anyone out there who has work they need done at their house or would like to purchase anything that we have for sale, we would Love to hear from you. Please understand that I am very aware of the struggles that many are having and I am also aware that my post may sound selfish in a way but I am doing whatever I can for my Family. All of these items are in Milton, but I would be willing to bring them to the Burlington area from Tuesday-Thursday. If you would be willing to send me money for shipping via PayPal, I would also be willing to ship most of these items to you. I would sell all the items on this listing together for $20.

5 Inch Portable Black & White TV With AM/FM Radio-- $2

This item can be powered by batteries (not included), a car cigarette lighter adapter (included), or a power cord for home use (included). I would imagine items like this would be harder to find, since converter boxes are now required to receive most analog channels. The TV portion probably would not be much use because of this, but I have hooked a Playstation 2 up to it before, so it may be useful for such things. There is no instruction manual included. The brand of this item is "Spectra."

Hair Dryer-- $2

This hair dryer has 3 settings and works well. It was left behind by a woman I used to date. The is some dirt and wear and tear on one end, but otherwise it is in fine shape. The brand of this hair dryer is "CONAIR," and it is about 8 inches long.

Four Large Clamps (About 6 inches in length each)-- $2 for all

These clamps were hardly ever used and in great shape. The stickers on them say 2", but if you squeeze them, the opening between the ends appears to be about 1 inch.

Graphing Calculator, Texax Instruments TI-83 -- $2

This item has been sitting around unused for years. It requires four AAA batteries, which I do not have handy at the time of this ad to test it, though it did work the last time I used it. It has been chewed by a dog a bit, so there are teeth marks on the back of it, but this has not appeared to damage the screen. It was chewed BEFORE it was last tested. Since I have been unable to test it, the price reflects this fact. This calculator was around $90 brand new, and has many functions. A cord to link the calculator to other calculators of the same brand and model is also included. There is no instruction manual included.

Cross Country Ski Poles--$2

These were purchased new in 2007 locally. They worked well with my height, and I am 5'11". I also have some other cross country gear that I could throw in for $5 more (boots and 2 OLD ski sets with metal clamp-like bindings).

Kitchen Items-- $5 for all

These items are in good shaped and rarely used.
The wine rack is metal, and was purchased new in 2007 for about $10.
The ceramic mug set has hardly ever been used, and is from around 2002. This mug set comes on a wooden stand, which you can use to carry the mugs from a kitchen to a dining room.
The two clear glass canisters have lightweight cork tops, and are decorative when filled with pasta and placed on a kitchen counter.
I also have other dishes you can look at and make offers for.

Lamp--Touch Activated, 3 Settings-- $5

This lamp is from around 1992 and the shade has some wear, but overall it is in pretty good condition. It is a good living room or bedside table lamp, and it is activated by touching the metal instead of a switch. There are three settings, and it comes with a working bulb. The height of this lamp is about 29 1/2 inches.

Decorative Desk Lamp-- $3

This lamp has a classy beige shade and a decorative brown base. The height of this lamp is about 22 1/2 inches.

VCR with remote and two videos-- $3

This VCR works well and comes with a remote and to videos. The videos are "Fargo" and "Alice In Wonderland (A heavily-used copy from a video store sale, not in original box). Please be aware that both videos are old, and while they worked fine the last time I used them, there was some noticeable distortion to picture quality at times because of the tape's age. The brand of the VCR is "Sharp." The VCR appears to work fine, but I am not an expert in electronics, so I am not sure if there are any minor issues with it. As with all the other items in this listing, it is sold AS IS, with a price that reflects this.

I am going to be moving across the country and DESPERATELY need to reduce my stuff to a more realistic pile. PLEASE NOTE: I am NOT ready to give this stuff away just yet...I have a lot of work yet to do.

I do not want to give it to Salvation Army or anything that is a) religiously affiliated or 2) going to sell it. I admire these organizations for their influence on the workforce, etc, but it just isn't what I want to do.

I will have a good amount of women's clothing, size 8 and some 10s, both summer and winter. These clothes will be most appropriate for a younger woman in her mid 20s, early 30s. Nothing is perfect, and while there are some name brands, please don't expect this season's fashions ;). I will also have a wide range of books to offer as well, and once I get digging, probably some other household items as well.

If anyone can recommend a place near Montpelier/Waterbury where I can take these things that has a giveaway program for their clients---a women's shelter of some sort, perhaps transitional family housing or the like, I would really appreciate it. Again, please no emails with requests to donate to an individual. I refuse to have to make a choice of who is "more deserving"---that's just not something I could ever feel comfortable doing, especially in this economic climate where so many are.

Apparently the nasty person didn't read the story.
I took the liberty of contacting this family and had a very in depth chat with them.

Those poor people DO have a lawyer and ARE suing but its going to take time.
They only just got any assistance at all whatsoever after living on their savings for most of the last part of the year, never dreaming things would go the way they did however, it ran out. Both are working, even the wife in her condition, to get employed regardless of the fact she is sick and can't.
Does no one understand that state assistance is minimal and NO ONE can survive on it? The poster was not kidding when they said the little bit they get barely covers the utilities.
I would also remind you that these are hard working people who have paid into that system for the last 20 years so that it CAN be there when they need it.
While there are certainly a faction of people abusing the system, this family is not one of them.

I don't think the poster was begging, in fact they specifically said they will work it off in any way they can.

It is clear this is a hapily married couple who had their foundation crumble through absolutely no fault of their own.
And are you saying that married professionals are not allowed to have a children? They discovered the pregnancy at a time when things weren't bleak.
Everything happened afterwards. So what, they should be ashamed of a baby because of it? Because of the negligence of Simon Pearce and the failing economy?

The teenager is not troubled by any means. She is a typical 17 year old rebelling. In fact she is like almost every other 17 year old in history. A few months from 18, wanting her own way, and thinking she knows it all.
It has nothing to do with upbringing. Its called being a teen. Every parent has dealt with this.

These are GOOD parents and people and I was delighted to have the time with them I did.
The father is going to do some lighting upgrades in my house for me in exchange for my help and I couldn't be happier with the arrangement.
Its not free whatsoever, this is a professional man with a skill set most typically would be hard pressed to afford offering it in exchange for nearly nothing, just to see his kids have a good Christmas.

Perhaps you should get off your high horse and stop seeing the negative.
These are good people willing to work and help in any way they can.
If you were any kind of a parent, you would understand the same thing.

I have posted numerous times on this site but here goes one more. I am a 35 year old Carpenter, Husband and father of two girls (3 and 5) and a boy that will be herer within the next couple of days. I recently had surgery on my wrist(2nd this year) for a rare bone disease. I have been out of work since the 16th of october and cant go back to work until March. My wife cant work because of the pregnancy. We have recieved a few responses and to those people I am forever grateful and appreciative for your care and support. Because of our situation we have lost our vehicle, fallen so far behind on bills that its enough to make you dizzy. Luckily we seem to have X-mas covered and for that I am so happy. I would hate it for my kids with no Christmas. I am still hoping that I can find someone who is looking to have work done on their house and maybe work out a contract so that when I can go back to work I could do job and maybe get a small advance on the labor costs so that I can tke care of bills and maybe even find a car that is suitable for a family of 5. It is very hard without a vehicle. We have also gone through our stuff and have put most of what we own of any value for sale. Some of these items include:

I have posted many time on this site explaining my situation and if you have read my posts you probably now that I am a bit desperate and worried. I want to add to my posts by explaining myself a bit more. I am a very proud husband and Father, there is nothing that means more to me than the safety and happiness of my wife and children. I am, in no way, looking for any sort of handouts. Ideally I would lie to borrow money and pay you back either in cash or labor as soon as I am cleared to work. I realize how hard times are for many and only wish that I was in the position to be offering help rather than asking for it. As I have said though, I will do anything for my family.
We have recieved a few calls from people with offerings of help and/or support and to those people we are very grateful. At this point our main concerns are getting a vehicle, around $800 cash to pay somne bills and save a litttle for emergencies and baby stuff. If you have read my previous posts then you now our situation,if not please read my posts in this category so I don't seem lie a complete begger.
I am very concerned about our vehicle situatioin. If there is anyone out there that has a minivan or station wagon that they can work out some sort of payment plan on that would be wonderful. As far as anything else, I am trying to get things accomplished concerning the baby stuff and money asap. The baby is coming any day!! I could work out some sort of repayment plan on that as well. As soon as I get back to work I can start repayment.
This situation is, without a doubt, the worst I've been through but I am going to get us through it and if I could get this help I will do it!!! I can promise to pay you back as soon as I possibaly can and will also be a phone call away for any sort of wor you need doneat your house, For Life!!
I realize that I sound like a greedy person but I just Love my Family so much that I can't just sit around and let these struggles continue.
I have many items for sale as well. I need to make $200 today so I offer my Dell laptop, very nice, for only $200. A steal!!!

Hi. I have been posting for the past month in hopes to somehow better my familys situation and I am hoping to get in touch with someone who is interested in my offer.
I have met /talked with a few people from my posts on this site and I want to say hello and thank you to those people who offered there prayers and blessings. I am so thankful to those who have wished us well.
I am a 35 yo Carpenter who just recently had my second surgery in a year for a rare bone disease. I have been out of work since October 16th and won't be able to get bac to work until march, per Doctors orders. My wife is 8 1/2 months pregnant so she can't work either. We have two beautiful daughters, a 3 and a 5 year old. Since October 16th we have gone through some very hard times. We have depleted our savings, lost our only vehicle and fallen behind in all our bills. We finally got some help from the state but it is minimal so we find ouselves still struggling to make ends meet.

I am creating this post to hopefully establish some sort of way to get a small temporary, or one time income. I only have the use of one hand so I am not much good to you as a laborer or working in my trade as a carpenter. I am more than willing to do whatever you would need though. I have gone through our remaining possessions in order to get them on the market for sale. I have put them on this site in various categories and hope to sell them so I can be that much closer to getting a vehicle and giving my kids a great x-mas.

The past few months have been the absolute hardest of my Life. With the Baby coming any day, and the fact that I cannot work for at least two more months(per Doctors Orders) it seems like I am fighting a battle that I just can't win. I recently discovered that my bill from DirecTv was overcharging on Vermont sales tax. They are basing sales tax on the amount of all charges, without deducting for discount credits. My "raw" bill is $64.99. After deducting credits it comes out to 29.99, yet they are billing me $3.36 in sales tax. I have notified the department of taxes, and suggest others do the same. I am a 35 yr old carpenter, husband and father of 2 with one due in less then 3 weeks. I had surgery on November 25th for a disease that has kept me out of work since Oct 16th. Over the past month we have lost our only car, depleted our savings and food and our bills keep stacking up. I am physically unable to work. I am not looking for handouts or sympathy, but I love my wife and kids so much I am willing to get on this site and explain my situation. If there is anyone out there that has the need for a one handed worker or wants to buy anything( I have posted pretty much all my possessions for sale on this site). Look, I know times are hard for a lot of people and I only wish that I could be asking people if they needed help. The reality is that my family is in trouble and I need to do something. I love my wife and kids and I will do whatever it takes. With xmas coming, the cold weather here and being without money..... its the hardest thing Ive ever been through, I am embarrassed to be doing this but I am also willing to do whatever it takes. I am a proud, hard working person and I love my family. I am slowly recovering from my surgery and decided to edit this post one last time in hopes that i can somehow work out a deal with someone. One idea that I have come up with is if anyone needed some work done on there house or whatever, then maybe we could work out a contract wjere we could come up with a final labor number and I could get an advance on that pay, and then when i am ok'd to go back to work I could complete the job at that point. I am experienced and qualified to do anything construction. I do roofs, decks, siding, windows, doors, etc. I am going to do my best to get myself back to work asap. I am so nervous about xmas, my bills, heast.... I need to do something Fast. My wife is also more then willing to babysit, in our home if that sparks any interest.

Like I said, I am not looking for a hand out but I am at the point now where I have to do whatever it takes. I have bills that need my immediate attention. I have no vehicle, my wife is ready to give birth any day and I am only able to use one hand and I am limping around on one leg where they took some bone from my hip. I am a proud grown man but I could cry trying to figure out how I am going to work this out.

I am more then willing to do whatever you may nedd, If there is anyway thay you or someone you know that could help me out... I promise to pay you back in a tm=imely fashion and however you may want to work it out.

I have 36 cents to my name so I am trying to get something accomplished today. I hate feeling and acting so desperate but I have to do something for my family!!! If so, you can call or write to me, In any case, we wish you happy holidays and a great new year.
