• Manage reconciliation processes for all aid programs. <br>
• Examines financial aid applications, personal, corporate and partnership returns to determine if we have the complete details of each family’s financial situation necessary to make an aid decision. Requests clarification and/or additional information as necessary. <br>
• Responds to inquiries regarding financial aid application procedures. <br>
• Counsels applicants and their families on the process, requirements and deadlines. <br>
• Authorizes disbursement of financial aid. <br>
• Verifies selected aid recipients’ information for accuracy according to federal regulations. <br>
• Shares responsibility with other members of the Student Financial Services Department for ensuring adherence to sound and ethical financial practices. <br>
• Coordinates and performs (with support) Entrance and Exit loan counseling sessions. <br>

High School Diploma and experience in loan counseling and customer service. Must have a working knowledge of collection techniques, excellent communication and listening skills. Duties will include all general reception duties, answering phones (7 incoming lines with 20 extensions), greeting clients, some filing, and all mail duties. <br>

Preferred hours are Monday thru Thursday 8-5, *Friday 1-5 and Saturday 9-1. <br>
*One day will have a late start. Our preference is Friday <br>

Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy (MMLA) <br>Summer Language Immersion Program is now accepting applications for the following:<br>- Arabic, Chinese, French, German or Spanish Residential Advisor <br><br>Residential Advisors are part of a community that creates an intensive four-week immersion program for middle and high school students each summer. Located on college campuses, MMLA offers students the opportunity to study Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, French, German, or Spanish with skilled language educators.  Residential Advisors (RA) are primarily responsible for ensuring the physical and emotional well being of all students. With the guidance of the Director of Residential Life and the Language Directors, RAs organize and supervise the residential life program ensuring that MMLA policies are upheld, while serving as a source of support for students in the dormitory. RAs also participate in morning assembly, eat meals with students, and lead and participate in fun, dynamic and engaging afternoon and evening activities conducted in the target language. <br><br>MMLA follows the traditions and success of the Middlebury College immersion programs and the Monterey Institute of International Studies curriculum development expertise. To allow students to learn the language by interacting in different contexts and through diverse experiences, RAs are expected to participate in most formal and informal events, as they live in the residences with students. Whatever students are involved in, so are RAs, ensuring that every moment is a learning moment and, most importantly, that every child is safe, both physically and emotionally.  All staff and students adopt the Middlebury Language Pledge&copy;, modified as needed for the student age group and language level, so that a full-immersion environment is created.  <br>Residential Advisors should command a high degree of spoken and written proficiency in Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, French, German or Spanish, should have experience working with middle or high school students, and should have the ability and flexibility to work as part of a team.  This is a residential position. All employees will be provided room and board and will have scheduled time off each day, and will have two full days off during the 4-week session and one half day off during orientation. All employees pay for their travel to and from program locations. Mad Science is seeking a detail-oriented Equipment Manager / Office Assistant to help prepare the materials that enable our Instructors to perform fun, hands-on science with area children ages 5-12.  Some general office duties will also be required. The Equipment Manager will typically work 8-12 hours a week (depending on the season) at the Mad Science office in Brattleboro. Additional hours may be available.  The right candidate will also have the opportunity to train as a Mad Scientist and may be able to substitute as a performer for our high-energy programs!<br>

ABOUT THE JOB - The Mad Science Equipment Manager is an integral part of the Mad Science staff.  Only proactive, self-directed individuals should apply.  Responsibilities include:<br>
• Preparation and Maintenance of all equipment used in Mad Science programs. Responsible for the safe and orderly storage of all chemicals, program equipment and supplies.<br>
• Maintains systems for the efficient handling and exchange of equipment (and develops more efficient/innovative ways to handle these functions).<br>
• Interaction with Mad Science Instructors and management regarding equipment status and issues.<br>
• Identification of inventory and equipment requirements.  Purchase/requisition of required supplies and consumables for all program kits by researching best suppliers.<br>
• Transports equipment to performance sites as required.<br>
• Ensures Mad Science laboratory / offices remain clean and well-organized.<br>
• Assists with instructor training and general office duties as needed.<br>
• Acts as a back-up instructor/performer as needed.<br>

ABOUT THE PAY - The Equipment Manager position for Mad Science is a part time job, 8-12 hours per week.  Starting pay is $9.50 per hour.  <br>
<br>
ABOUT TRAVEL - Mad Science classes are held on-campus at various schools in the greater Brattleboro and Keene areas.  Although the Equipment Manager position works primarily out of our Brattleboro home-based office, you may occasionally be required to transport equipment to any of our various program sites.  You must have your own reliable transportation (not public transportation) for this position. Mileage reimbursal may be available.<br>

ABOUT THE REQUIREMENTS<br>
To be invited to the interview you must have the following qualifications.  Please do not apply if you cannot meet these basic requirements:<br>
• Proficiency with computers (PC & Mac) and basic Microsoft Office applications.<br>
• Detail-oriented, with ability to work independently with minimal direct oversight.  You must bring a problem-solving, solution-oriented attitude to this position.<br>
• Be able to work a minimum of 3 days per week.  Specific hours will be negotiated based on your availability and needs of the Mad Science office, but will generally be 8-12 hours per week and will always include Thursday mornings and Fridays from 3-5 pm.<br>
• Be able to pass a criminal background check.<br>
• Have a reliable car or access to a reliable car.<br>
• Have a valid driver’s license and current proof of automobile insurance.<br>
• Must be able to lift equipment weighing 25-40 lbs on a regular basis.<br>
• Must not have sensitivities to common scientific chemicals.<br>
• Looking for PART-TIME work. College students and stay-at-home parents may find this opportunity especially convenient with their schedules. <br>
• Must enjoy “bargain shopping” and be able to organize vast amounts of equipment.<br>
